Insisting that any attempt to re-create or re-act is strictly discommended, I am a bloody fool!
I am aware of- some of- my vices, my thrills- emphasizing that I am an IDIOT- point taken.
Having said this let me take you back a few weeks ago-
It was a grey concrete world where the path was endless
Ahead I saw the vague contours of objects- obstacles
More further down the road focussing on the horizon- the sun was orange, shining gold
From the outside, the air, the vacuum
You could hear the roaring of the engine.
In my vehicle on the European autobahn– no limitation: xxx miles per hour
In my situation- a place where doom is around the corner
All my muscles in my arms were strained, tight- my hands clamping the steering wheel
My eyes and mind focussed – the adrenaline, caressing my brain, every vessel in my body
I could feel the thrill going down my veins
It was drowning me.
And in this moment of ecstasy my thoughts carried me away to something totally different.
In my early business life I had the strong convincing that good managers do not require exact knowledge about specific content.
As many business gurus plead- gather the best people around you with best knowledge and skills and run the joint. Still true. But what about taking the next level?
Imagine..
You are the creator of a new engine. Your team is doing amazingly well and it is an awesome success. Now, interacting with the outer world, your stakeholders, clients- the world around you.
You can tell about the materials, the design, benefits or measured results- all solid.
Imagine- if you had done the whole nine yards, yourself- felt the adrenaline in your blood?
How would you face your audience then?
How would they face you?
So, here I plead, having the strong personal believe and conviction that leaders show charismatically passion. You easily discover when someone in front of you has the fire, the passion, the ultimate believe in his eyes.
Eyes that …..inspire you…. touch you…. moving you.
And from this point…. I expect from leaders encountering, facing me with believe and passion. The sparkle in their eyes, burning in my soul.
In this given situation above I am totally not the correct example at all, but it shows me that in some occasions and at some point, you really must have come from those nine yards to be able to tell the story.
We recognize and transform thrill & passion into inspiration and movement.
I call for that sparkle, I call for fire- endless fire.
Leadership is a way of thinking, a way of acting and, most importantly, a way of communicating
